Unusual strong easterlies over Victoria
Unusualstrong easterlies have occured over southern Victoria including bayside and eastern suburbs of Melbourne overnight. Wind gusts in excess of 80 km/h had been recorded.
Typically Victoria's strongest winds come from the north or the southwest.
What is incredible is how just slightly north, owing to the topography.etc, winds were much lighter, winds averaged less than 10 km/h at Melbourne Tullamarine International Airport or even the Melbourne CBD overnight where winds tended to be less than 5 km/h.
