-13°C morning following 27°C afternoon in South Africa
Infrared satellite shows that the same part of South Africa has seen ground temperatures dip to -13°C following the warm afternoon yesterday which saw ground temperatures up to 27°C.
It is however a relatively isolated part of South Africa and so there are no official stations to confirm the temperature readings, however comparisons between surface observations and the infrared satellite observations over where there are official temperature readings show that the satellite observations are quite accurate.

Note that these are for ground temperatures and not the usual 10 meters above ground temperatures. Minimum ground temperature at this time of the year, at that location are typically around 2°C lower than that for the 10 meter temperature and maximum ground temperature is typically around 8°C higher than that for the 10 meter temperature.
