Temperatures in the Wyoming City of Laramie beat the official forecasts to dip to -32°C on Tuesday morning. This has exceeded the previous record low for the month of October by some 4°C, the previous record low for October was -28°C.
In fact, the record low for even November was -32°C so this draws with the previous record for the next month!
It is in fact comparable to the average for the coldest day of the year and the coldest since January 2017 despite it being only October. Observations are from January 1948.
The city hosts The University of Wyoming (UW) and is located just around 200 km north of Denver, Colorado.
In 2011, Laramie was named as one of the best cities in which to retire by Money Magazine, which cited its scenic location, low taxes, and educational opportunities.
