Canada 50°C?
June 28 2021:
Canada is genuinely at risk of seeing temperatures of around 50°C or even exceeding the 50.0°C mark by Wednesday.
Canada's all time national highest temperature on record has already been broken today as temperatures at Lytton Airport reached 46.6°C. 850 hPa level temperatures were around 30°C then.
The ECMWF model expects 850 hPa level temperatures to reach around 34°C by Tuesday afternoon local time which given today's relationship between the 850 hPa temperature would yield a maximum temperature of around 50°C, however, there could be a little cloud cover limiting maximum temperatures by a little.
Canada's previous all time national record high temperature was 45.0°C set on July 5, 1937 at Yellow Grass, and Midale, SK.
