April 1910 hot spell, hottest April day on record
Wednesday April 8 2020
In April 1910, a rare April hot spell occurred between the 8th to the 12th with some 5 consecutive days with temperatures above 34°C and the highest April temperature on record at the Perth official station of 37.6°C being recorded on April 9.
This comes as the west coast trough lied offshore for many consecutive days due to a cut off low having formed to the west with the cold front retreating south.
At that time, Pearce RAAF and Perth Airport weren't reporting yet and temperatures at those stations may have very well been higher that that at the then official station, Perth Regional Office.
