Perth sees strongest August wind gust on record
Perth was hit by strong wind gusts today with the Mt Lawley site having seen their strongest wind gust on record for August as wind gusts reached 78 km/h exceeding the record of 74 km/h set on August 16 2005. Records date back from 2003.
Pearce RAAF also saw the strongest August wind gust on record drawing with the 98 km/h set on August 26 1985. Records date back from 1941.
Rottnest Island saw wind gusts up to 104 km/h.
Unlike the usual scenario during winter, the strong winds largely came from a north-northeasterly direction.
